Ayra Starr is the first Nigerian female singer to hit 1 billion views on YouTube.
She has now beaten Yemi Alade’s record of the most viewed female artiste of all time on YouTube.
Ayra Starr overtook Alade’s record of 805 million views with 1 billion views.
Leading the list of views on the platform, Ayra Starr’s hit Grammy-nominated song ‘Rush’ garnered over 450 million views.

Following the new career feat, the singer joins her male colleagues, Burna Boy, Flavour, Wizkid, Davido, Rema, Ckay, Kizz Daniel, P-Square, Omah Lay, Fireboy and Tekno as the Nigerian artists to have surpassed 1 billion views on YouTube.
Just last month, Ayra Starr said she prays that her mother to listen to the second verse of her new collaboration with Wizkid, “Gimme Dat”

In her lyrics, she commanded a man to let her “survey” his private parts.
In her second verse of the song, which sampled Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige’s 2000 hit ‘911,’ Starr shared that a lot of men watch her for the wrong reasons, but she knows how to flip that gaze into power.
“So many people wan lick my stew, so baby chill make I survey your tools… and if I handle your 2 by 2, you fit to scream, you go lose your cool,” she sings.

The verse instantly caught the attention of listeners. While many commended her artistry, others criticised her delivery of the verse as being “too raw”.
Ayra Starr herself shared on her X handle on Saturday that he doesn’t want her mother to listen to the controversial verse.
She wrote, “Hopefully my mom never listens to my second verse.”
