Five people have been taken into custody by the Department of State Services (DSS) Kano State branch on suspicion of abducting and murdering Sakina Mamuda, an eight-year-old child.
The incident was committed in Kano State’s Duhunbake neighbourhood of the Gwarzo Local Government Area.
The girl was purportedly kidnapped by the suspects, who then strangled her and disposed of her corpse in a well after demanding a payment.
Zailani Rabi’u, Hafizu Yusuf Muhd, Abubakar Abdulkarim (also known as Danyaro), Umar Lawan Abdullahi, and Amadu Salisu (commonly known as Amadi) are the people that were detained.

Barrister Haruna Dederi, Kano State’s Commissioner for Justice, confirmed the arrests and praised the DSS for their prompt action in capturing all five suspects in a few days.

Kano State Governor, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, extended his condolences to the family of the deceased girl and the community of Duhunbake.
Governor Yusuf assured that the state government would continue to work with security agencies to ensure the safety and protection of lives and property of Kano people.
