Suspected Armed Robbers Kill Two Police Officers At Checkpoint In Kogi

Explaining further, the source indicated that three other police officers who scampered fir safety sustained various degrees of injuries as the fleeing robbers shot sporadically to pave their way for escape.

Tragedy occurred on Monday in Kogi as two police officers on duty at a checkpoint in Kabba, headquarters of Kabba/ Bunu Local Government Area of the state were reportedly gunned down by unknown gunmen.

The police officers were reportedly lost their lives at the Origa checkpoint along Kabba- Iyara road at about 5 pm on Monday, an eye witness testified.

The hoodlums it was gathered were driving in a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) when the policemen who were at the checkpoint flagged them down for a routine check but the suspected robbers suddenly opened fire on two of them and speed off.

Explaining further, the source indicated that three other police officers who scampered fir safety sustained various degrees of injuries as the fleeing robbers shot sporadically to pave their way for escape.

The affected officers were from the newly created Kabba police B divisional headquarters.

Meanwhile, the robbers were said to be coming from the Ekiti axis and were probably heading towards Abuja using the Kabba route before the incident occurred.
