The joint admissions and matriculation board (JAMB) says it has scheduled a nationwide mop-up unified tertiary matriculation examination (UTME) for Saturday, June 28, 2025.
The mop-up examination is aimed at accommodating 96,838 eligible candidates, including those affected by biometric verification failures, absenteeism, and security-related issues during the main and resit exams.
A statement released by Fabian Benjamin, the spokesperson of the board, said that the examination would accommodate the 5,096 spill-over candidates.
It noted that 91,742 candidates who were absent from both or either of the main and resit examinations would also be given the opportunity.
The statement noted that the 96,838 candidates are being rescheduled for a mop-up exercise across 183 centres.

It stated that a large number of CBT centres implicated for sharp practices in the ongoing security investigation are being suspended, and those found guilty are delisted.
“Consequently, 113 CBT centres have been delisted or suspended from across the country. Some other implicated in multiple infractions in the main or resit examinations exercise.”
It explained that several examination towns are no longer eligible to be used for the mop-up examinations.
“The few candidates who fall into the deactivated examination towns would be assigned to examination towns closest to the delisted towns,” the statement noted.
It stressed that the scheduled examination provides more opportunities to catch those who engage in examination malpractices and impersonators, especially undergraduate students.

“Institutions of apprehended undergraduates are already being notified of the gross misconduct of their students to invoke the violation of the matriculation oath already taken by the students to flush them out of the various tertiary institutions, in addition to their prosecution under the examination malpractice Act, 1999 which makes provisions for imprisonment even of the under-aged and their indulgent parents.”
The board further applauded the efforts of security agencies like the state security service(SSS), the Nigeria police force(NPF), and the Nigeria security and civil defence corps(NSCDC) for their efforts in ensuring that impersonators and candidates who engaged in examination malpractice were caught.
It, however, advised eligible candidates to print their examination notification slips from Monday, 23rd June 2025, in preparation for the mop-up examination scheduled for Saturday, June 28.
