Reports of a ceasefire deal between Iran and Israel have been refuted by Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, who said that Tehran will only cease its retaliatory assaults if Israel stops what he called “illegal aggression.”
Araghchi denied US President Donald Trump’s previous assertion that both nations had reached a truce to halt the 12-day combat in a post on his verified X account.
“As Iran has repeatedly made clear, Israel launched this war on Iran, not the other way around.
“At this moment, there is NO agreement on any ceasefire or halt to military operations. However, if the Israeli regime ends its illegal aggression against the Iranian people by 4 a.m., Tehran time, we will have no reason to continue our response. A final decision regarding the cessation of our military actions will be made subsequently,” Araghchi wrote.

Israel has not yet responded to the ceasefire claims in a public statement.
In response to American assaults on Iranian nuclear installations over the weekend, Iran launched missiles towards a military station in Qatar that houses US personnel, escalating tensions.
