Anambra State Commissioner For Housing, Mr. Paulinus Onyeka says work is already ongoing for the construction of a new government house.

Speaking during the defense of the 2022 revise budget, the honourable commissioner said it is very urgent and important to put up a very befitting edifice for ndi-anambra “so that whoever that is coming into the government house will be happy for it.”

According to Onyeka, since the creation of the state, both the government house and the governor’s lodge have been on the temporary site.

“If you look at other states, you will find out that they have a very befitting government house and lodges. It is only Anambra State that is still operating from the temporary site.

Anambra Set To Build New Government House
Prof Charles Soludo, Anambra State Governor

“We have a new housing policy in Anambra. It won’t be business as usual where people construct building indiscriminately. The spot for planting of trees and cross ventilation will be considered.

“Every building will now be in accordance with the smart mega city. Henceforth, all building must key into that mantra. In other words, the architectural design will make sure that the house will be livable.

“Anambra ranks second after Lagos when it comes to landmarks. The state is getting smaller because of ecological problems.

“It will not be Wise for us to go into construction without bringing these factors into cognizance. That is why we are looking at the vertical and not horizontals.”
