A driver who tried to take four Nigerian women and three children across the Ashkada-Sabha Triangle Gate in southern Libya has been arrested by Libyan government police.
During a regular police check, the automobile carrying three children and four undocumented female immigrants—all Nigerian citizens—was halted.
Reports state that the suspect, also identified as Y.A.M.Y., was born in 1993 and attempted, but was unable, to elude capture by the authorities at the checkpoint.

Despite his offer, the officers turned down the bribe and arrested him.
In a statement on Monday, Migrant Rescue Watch confirmed the incident, indicating that all individuals involved have been transferred to the Al-Shatti Security Directorate for further investigation.

The statement reads, “Police during an inspection at the Ashkada-Sabha Triangle Gate thwarted an attempted human smuggling attempt and detained a Libyan driver (‘Y. A. M. Y.’, born in 1993) who transported 4 undocumented female migrants and 3 children who were Nigerian nationals.
“During the inspection the driver offered a bribe to police officers to avoid being held accountable. They have been moved to the Al-Shatti Security Directorate and are now awaiting referral to competent judicial authorities.”
