In Oyo State, a residential structure was damaged by fire, destroying items valued at millions of naira.
The source said that the event happened on Saturday at 45 Lane 2b, Agogbo Phase 2 Fola Tyre in Oyo.
When the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) restored the local power supply, our correspondent learnt that a plasma (TV) that had been plugged in while not in use had caught fire.
Millions of naira’s worth of valuables were reportedly lost in the fire, and two rooms in the residential structure were damaged.

Hon. Maroof Akinwande, the chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, verified the occurrence on Sunday.
Akinwande, in a statement made available to The Intercept, said, “The fire incident was reported at exactly 19:15 hrs on Saturday, 24th May 2025. The agency’s officers, led by ACFS Tijani Bamidele, promptly deployed to the scene of the incident.
“On getting to the scene of the incident, we met the living room of a two (2) bedroom flat engulfed by fire. The fireman swiftly swung into action, and the fire was curtailed and restricted from spreading to the other parts of the building.
