A traffic collision along the Mile 2 portion of Aiyetoro-Abeokuta Motorway has resulted in the deaths of two motorcyclists and the serious injuries of three additional passengers.
Two TVS motorbikes, registered as LAR 880 VM and AAB 408 VX, respectively, and a Toyota Camry, registered as BDG 260 JP, were involved in the collision.
According to information obtained by The Intercept, the tragedy happened on Saturday when the driver of a Toyota Camry sped past a car ahead of him without taking into account oncoming traffic, causing a head-on collision with two motorbikes.
Seni Ogunyemi, the Commandant General of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, confirmed the occurrence in a traffic report on Monday, attributing the collision to speeding and improper overtaking.

He disclosed that seven male adults were involved, two dead, three severely injured and two others unhurt.

Oguyemi said, “According to an eyewitness, reckless driving coupled with excessive speeding on the part of the Toyota Camry driver who overtook a vehicle in front of him without considering the incoming traffic, led to a head-on collision with two motorcycles.
“Seven adult males were involved, three adult males were injured and two adult males died.”
He, however, noted that the corpses had been deposited at the State Hospital Morgue, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, while the injured victims were responding to treatment at the same hospital.
