Nigerians should anticipate electoral reforms before to the general election in 2027 says to Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, the INEC chairman clarified that the Commission has discussed the 2023 general elections with pertinent parties.
According to him, electoral change is necessary for eight of the 142 suggestions made by the evaluations.
The electoral commission now has the full complement of commissioners necessary by law, according to Yakubu, who revealed that he visited the State House to witness the inauguration of two INEC National Commissioners from the North-West and South-East.

While also reacting to the rumours of his removal, Yakubu noted that he remains the Chief Electoral Officer for the country.
He added, “The National Assembly is going to organise a public hearing, and it is after the public hearing that a new bill will be submitted to the President for assent.
“So, we are working with the National Assembly on electoral reform, but I am not going to give more details. You will hear from the National Assembly, but we reviewed the 2023 general elections on our own.
