A police officer and three other people were killed in Aondona Village, Gwer West Local Government Area, after being attacked by alleged armed herdsmen, according to confirmation from the Benue State Police Command.
This was revealed to journalists in Makurdi on Monday by SP Sewuese Anene, the State Police Public Relations Officer.
She said that the cop lost his life protecting the locals during the assault, which took place in Aondona Village.
“When the event at Aondona was reported, the cops arrived right away. An investigation is still underway after three deaths were found, Anene said.
Just hours before the Aondona attack, she continued, a police officer had been slain protecting another community in the same local government region.

Locals said the attacks, which took place in four different towns, killed over thirty people, wounded seven, and abducted two, notwithstanding the police account.
They claim that because such attacks have grown commonplace, the violence has compelled many people to leave their homes.
Residents of Mablim, which borders Aondona in the nearby Gwer East Local Government, have also escaped to Taraku town in search of protection.
