22 PDP lawmakers in the Delta State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, have officially defected to APC.
This incident followed the footsteps of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Sen Ifeanyi Okowa, who recently decamped to APC.
Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The declaration came after a high-level, private meeting that took place at Asaba’s Government House on Wednesday night. In a “strategic realignment” ahead of the general elections in 2027, key party officials welcomed Governor Oborevwori, who was elected on the PDP platform in the 2023 gubernatorial votes, into the APC.

Also present at the high-level stakeholders’ meeting were former governor and 2023 PDP vice-presidential candidate Ifeanyi Okowa, members of the National and State Assemblies, as well as several commissioners.
The defection signals a significant turning point for Delta State, where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has held power since 1999.
