Tolu Arokodare, a striker of the Super Eagles and athlete of KRC Genk, has received the 2024–25 Ebony Shoe Award in Belgium.
On Monday, Arokdare accepted the prize intended for the top African player in the European nation for this season.
The 24-year-old is currently the second-leading striker in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League with 20 goals.
In the regular 2024–2025 season, he helped Genk win the most points; however, their effort was ruined in the title play-offs.

Arokodare was the eighth player from Nigeria to get the honour. The most recent since 2021, when Paul Onuachu took up the award.

He took home the coveted honour before Union Saint-Gilloise star Promise David, Genk colleague Zakaria El Ouahdi, Union Saint-Gilloise’s Noah Sidiki, and fellow countryman Raphael Onyedika.
Other Nigerians who have received the honour include Celestine Babayaro, Godwin Opara, Daniel Amokachi, and Victor Ikpeba.

Lagos’ Festac Town is where Arokodare was born. In 2025, he made his Super Eagles debut.
In the 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Rwanda, he replaced Victor Osimhen.
In the same qualifying campaign, he played his second game for the team a few days later in a 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe.
