Salah, Mane shortlisted for FIFA The Best Awards

The three finalists for each awards will be revealed at a later date, with all awrd winners revealed at the Best FIFA Awards ceremony in Zurich on 17 December 2020.

African duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are among the nominees for this year’s FIFA the Best Awards in recognition for their outstanding performance.

Mane and Salah played a vital role in helping Liverpool to win the Premier League title last season.
Both players have also been superb this season with the Reds who are hoping to successfully defend their title.
The duo also made the list last season and against have been included this season.
According to a statement made available on FIFA.com, the winner of his season will be determined by football fans through voting.

Despite the outbreak of COVID-19 which crippled football activities, FIFA decided to go on with the award.
The 11-man shortlist for The Best FIFA Men’s player 2020 award based on their respective achievements during the period between 20 July 2019 to 7 October 2020.
According to FIFA.com the list was compiled by a panel of experts in men’s football.
Voting to decide the winner is equally weighted between fans, journalists, national team coaches and captain.
The three finalists for each awards will be revealed at a later date, with all awrd winners revealed at the Best FIFA Awards ceremony in Zurich on 17 December 2020.

Public voting is open on FIFA.com and will run until 9 December 2020 (23:59 CET).

FIFA will announce the three finalists in each of the seven categories listed above on 11 December 2020.

Here are the short lists for all the categories of nominees shorlisted for the 2020 FIFA the Best awards.

The Best FIFA Men’s Player:

  • Thiago Alcântara (Spain / FC Bayern München / Liverpool FC)
  • Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal / Juventus FC)
  • Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium / Manchester City FC)

The winner of the FIFA Puskás Award will be selected by an international jury comprising a panel of FIFA Legends and by the fans from all over the world registered on FIFA.com. Each of the two groups of voters within the jury has the same electoral weight.
