Nollywood actress Sarah Martins replied to critics over her public show of affection for controversial social media activist, VeryDarkMan (VDM).

Earlier this week, Sarah took to Instagram to express excitement over VDM’s release, referring to him as her “sweet husband” and declaring her love for him.

The post stirred mixed reactions from fans, with many criticising her open display.

In response, Sarah posted another message on Instagram, defending her stance and revealing she considers herself emotionally married to VDM.

“I see all the hate comments on Instablog concerning my undying love for my Prince Charming VDM,” she wrote. “In case you haven’t noticed, I have his last name — Sarah Martins… Vincent Martins. We are officially married in my heart.”

The actress further appealed to critics, saying, “If you can’t wish us well, please leave us alone.”

Sarah added that she was still awake thinking about VDM at 2 a.m., declaring, “Y’all, he’s mine, period.”

Social media activist, Martins Otse, aka VDM, has regained his freedom from EFCC custody after five days of detention.

His release was announced on Wednesday by former presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore, via his X handle.

“Thanks to unrelenting efforts of all @thatverydarkman has been released from unjust detention at the @officialEFCC. He is with his ebullient lawyer, @adeyanjudeji,” Sowore tweeted.

VeryDarkMan’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, also confirmed the release on Wednesday via a post on X, expressing gratitude to Nigerians and various public figures who spoke up in support.

“VDM released to us on bail,” Adeyanju wrote.

“Special thanks to @DAPLawFirm, especially the head of our firm @Marvin_Omorogbe. Thank you Nigerians for speaking up for him Egbon @YeleSowore. Thank you HE Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Davido, opposition lawmakers, etc. I must also thank the chairman of EFCC for indulging and listening to all my concerns since on Friday last week and his team. The struggle continues,” he added.
