The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) 2025 edition holds tonight at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos.
The show recognises the big names in African film and television for a night of celebration, fashion, and recognition.
This year’s ceremony will be broadcast live across all Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv, including Africa Magic Showcase, Urban, Family, Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo. Viewers can also catch the event via the DStv Stream app.
Festivities kick off at 4:00 PM WAT with red carpet coverage, where celebrities and nominees will make their glamorous entrances. The main awards ceremony follows at 7:00 PM WAT. This honours the best performances and productions in African cinema over the past year.

The 2025 AMVCA includes 28 award categories, with 18 decided by a panel of industry professionals and 10 determined through public voting.
A notable addition this year is the introduction of the Best Music Score category. This aims to spotlight the work of composers and sound designers who enhance storytelling through music.

The 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) Cultural Day was held on Friday at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos. Former Big Brother Naija housemates Liquorose and Prince Enwerem emerged Best Dressed Female and Male.
Nominations for the 11th edition of the AMVCA were announced on Sunday, March 23. The nominations cut across outstanding work in film, television, and digital content. It covers literary works released between January 1 and December 31, 2024.

Top nominees include Lisabi: The Uprising, Skeleton Coast, House of Ga’a, and Freedom Way, which received multiple nods in key categories such as Best Movie and Best Director.
In the acting categories, Gideon Okeke (Tokunbo), Stan Nze (Suspicion), Femi Adebayo (Seven Doors), and Adedimeji Lateef (Lisabi: The Uprising) are among those nominated for Best Lead Actor. Nominees for Best Lead Actress include Chioma Chukwuka (Seven Doors), Bimbo Ademoye (Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre), and Uche Montana (Thinline).
