Famous Nigerian singer Johnny Drille has disclosed that he met Rima Tahini, his wife, while working at Mavin Records.
In an interview with The Right Hand podcast, the musician said that he had concealed his relationship and eventual marriage from the public for several years.
Drille claims that he and his spouse started dating in November or December 2018, but they didn’t make their relationship public until July 2023.
He said they had already tied the knot before disclosing their relationship to the public and had kept their romance a secret for around five years.
Reflecting on the secrecy surrounding their relationship, Drille said, “I think about it now, and I don’t realise how much work we had to put into it for keeping it on the record for so long.”
He added, “We started dating in November-December of 2018, and I don’t think the rest of the world knew. They got to know in July 2023, and that’s about five years because we had gotten married, which is about a year and seven months-ish after we announced it.”

The singer described keeping the relationship private as challenging but expressed gratitude for meeting his wife during his time at Mavin Records.
“It wasn’t easy keeping it, but I’m grateful I met my wife at Mavin’s,” he said.
In May 2025, Johnny Drille explained how fatherhood status has changed how he sees his parents.
The singer and his wife, Rima Tahini, announced the birth of their first child, a daughter named Amaris Esohe Ighodaro, on November 17, 2023.
In a recent conversation with Dose of Society, Drille revealed that becoming a parent made him appreciate his parents more. He described being a parent as a life-changing experience.
“The one rule I live by is family first. I would abandon anything I’m doing anywhere in the world if my family needs me, super importantly.
“Family has always been my support system. Every time I got overwhelmed by the world around me, I always run back to family. And, it all felt better. They have been there for me, especially, my parents. My biggest dream in life is to be able to take care of them, and get them to see the world.
“My parents didn’t have much. I remember it was really hard sometimes and we would not have food to eat and they would figure out a way to be able to provide food for us.
