Nigerian singer Reekado Banks is regretting his premature exit from his former record label, Mavin Records, which shot his career to stardom.
Banks rose to prominence after getting signed to Mavin Records. He won the Rookie of the Year at The Headies 2014, receiving the controversial Next Rated award at The Headies 2015.
He, however, left the label in 2018 and launched his imprint, Banks Music.

Speaking in a recent interview with reality star Teddy A, on the Echoo Room, Banks revealed that he realised that his exit from Mavin was premature when he started handling the music business by himself.
He also clarified that his exit wasn’t due to a disagreement, stressing that his contract had ended two years before he took the bold step of leaving instead of renewing the contract.

“It [my exit from Mavin Records] wasn’t a conflict situation. I was pretty young and pretty fixated on what I wanted to do -I wanted to leave. Anyways, my contract has ended two years prior. I signed a three-year contract and I allowed it to ride for another two years. So, I was there for five years without reviewing the contract.
“So, when it was time, I thought I wanted to do this [leave] now. I thought I could do it now. I just embarked on the journey, as many people would view it, prematurely. As soon as I jumped into the sea as well, I realised how premature it was,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nigerian rapper Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, wants the Lagos State Police Command to reopen the investigation into the death of Mohbad.
He stated this while recounting his side of the story about his alleged involvement in Mohbad’s death in a video broadcast via his YouTube channel on Tuesday.
While maintaining his innocence in the singer’s death, Naira Marley urged the police to re-arrest him, his associate Samsan Balogun, aka Samlarry, and all others accused of involvement in Mohbad’s death.
He demanded that a trustworthy officer be put in charge of the case this time.
