Veteran singer Mike Ejeagha has passed on at the age of 95.
The family of the ‘Gwo gwo ngwo’ has revealed the cause of death. Mike Ejeagha on Friday evening at the age of 95.
However, speaking in an interview with Vanguard newspaper on Saturday morning, the singer’s eldest son, Emma Ejeagha, stated that his father died of prostate cancer.
Emma explained that his father died at the 32 Garrison Hospital in Enugu, after battling with cancer since 2006.
“Papa died on Friday, at 8 p.m. and his body has been deposited in the mortuary. I was with him during his final moments.”
Emma further revealed that the late musician had instructed him not to embalm or keep his body in the morgue for too long.

Mike Ejeagha’s 1983 classic, Gwo gwo ngwo’ gained prominence in 2024 after popular skit maker Brain Jotter used the song in a global dance challenge.
In May, social media influencer and plus-size model Monalisa Stephen died. The upcoming actress sadly passed away after a battle with low blood sugar and subsequent internal bleeding.

The tragic news was announced by the chief executive officer of Best of Nollywood (BON), Seun Oloketuyi. He confirmed the sad news on May 14, 2025, via an Instagram post.
Oloketuyi stated that the news of her passing was confirmed by the deceased actress’s sister.
He wrote:

“Brand influencer, Monalisa Ayobami Stephen, is dead. She died yesterday in Lagos after losing the fight against low sugar and internal bleeding. Her immediate younger sister confirmed the death of this hardworking and beautiful soul.”
Meanwhile, Monalisa Stephen, also known as Gabacci during her lifetime, featured in movies like Mami Wata (2023), Breaded Life (2021), and a myriad of comedy skits. She rose to prominence by using her platform to champion self-love and body positivity amongst plus-size women.
