In what authorities call a clever smuggling attempt, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, or NDLEA, discovered and confiscated a shipment of psychoactive chemicals that were falsely disguised as green tea.
Femi Babafemi, an NDLEA spokesman, shared a video of the seized shipment along with an announcement of the bust on X (previously Twitter) on Sunday.

The containers were discovered to contain harmful illegal narcotics even though they looked like normal green tea imports.
“This consignment is a green tea import in packaging and on the outside. But if you drink it, you may lose your mind because the real and undisclosed content is psychoactive substances as discovered by #ndlea_nigeria officers in one of our latest seizures. Shine your eyes.” Babafemi wrote.

The video clip posted by the agency shows NDLEA officers unwrapping the supposed green tea boxes to reveal sachets of the hidden substances.
Details about the shipment’s origin, destination, and arrests made were not immediately disclosed, but the agency confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
