The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has cautioned against fraudulent message currently circulating online, which falsely claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the reopening of the NELFUND Student Loan portal.

In a statement obtained on Monday, June 30, and signed by Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the director of strategic communications of NELFUND, said that the message is fake.

It explained that a cloned website with https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/ as its link was created to deceive the public.

The statement mentioned that the organisation has only one official portal for student loans.

NELFUND

“We wish to categorically state that this website is FAKE, and the information contained in the message is false and misleading. The ONLY official portal for the NELFUND Student Loan Application is: https://nelf.gov.ng

According to the statement, “We urge the general public, especially students, parents, and guardians, to avoid clicking on unverified links and to never submit personal or financial information on suspicious websites.”

It stressed that NELFUND remains committed to transparency, safety, and fairness in the loan application process and would always make announcements through its verified platforms.

It added that suspicious messages and websites should be reported to the fund through their official email address ([email protected]) or social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter): @nelfund, Instagram: @nelfund, Facebook & LinkedIn: Nigerian Education Loan Fund – NELFUND.
