In a chartered flight that took off from Dublin Airport on Wednesday evening, the Republic of Ireland deported no less than 35 Nigerians, including five children, to Nigeria.
The returnees, who include nine women, five children, and twenty-one men, arrived in Nigeria on Thursday, according to the Irish Mirror.
Even though they had to make an unplanned layover because of a medical issue on board, Irish Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan expressed his happiness that all of them had returned to Nigeria.

O’Callaghan just stated, “Ireland has a rules-based immigration system,” but the Irish government did not provide a precise explanation for the expulsion of the Nigerian nationals.
It is crucial that those regulations are strong and upheld.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, however, stated that it was unaware of Ireland’s Thursday deportation of Nigerians.
The Intercept story was informed of this on Thursday by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the spokesperson for NiDCOM.
