Iyabo Komolafe, 43, a reputed fake prophetess, was charged by NHigeria Police on Thursday with fraud in front of a Grade A Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan.
Inspector Ayodele Ayeni, the prosecution, informed the court that the defendant had committed the act at the Mokola Roundabout area of Ibadan on December 12, February 15, 2024, and April 2025, consecutively.
According to Ayeni, Komolafe and other individuals who are currently at large have previously pretended to be prophetesses in order to defraud Olawuni Akinola and one Waliyat Shakiru of their money while making fictitious spiritual predictions.

He added that the defendant obtained N300,000 in cash, a N13,000 small phone, a N1,500 bag containing cash, three N15,000 electrical extension boxes, an iPhone 12 worth N365,000, and a N7,000 phone charger.
The prosecutor said the offences violated Sections 516, 419, and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 vol. ii law of Oyo State, 2000. The defendant entered a not guilty plea to the six-count charge of conspiracy, false pretence, and stealing that was brought against her.

The Court’s President, Mrs S.M. Akintayo, after listening to the charge, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties must be relatives of the defendant and must provide a valid identity card.
Akintayo added that each of the sureties must present evidence of tax payment to the Oyo State Government.
She adjourned the suit until June 3, for trial.
