An unknown number of people were taken hostage after gunmen stopped a commercial bus in the Eke axis in Benue State’s Okpokwu Local Government Area on Sunday night.
A neighbourhood source said that the shooting happened on Sunday at around 6:30 p.m. when the gunmen stopped the car, “robbed the passengers, and then whisked them away.”
According to the source, the unfortunate car is owned by Benue State Transport Company, also known as Benue Links.
The management of the business hasn’t yet verified this, though.
The attack on a Hummer bus carrying people in the same area on Sunday was verified by the Benue State Police Command on Monday.

Udeme Edet, the spokesperson for the state command, stated that the command had been informed about the passengers who had been kidnapped and that the combined security personnel were searching the jungle for the victims.
The PPRO said, “We are investigating a suspected kidnapping where a Hummer bus with registration number 14B-43BN was parked by the road in Ugbokolo, (Okpokwu LGA).
