The Ballon d’Or has launched a new initiative, B.O.A.T. (Ballon d’Or Of All Time), inviting football fans to vote for the greatest individual season in the history of the prestigious award.
According to the “official Ballon d’Or website”, the competition features players who have won the award at least twice, with each of their winning seasons represented by a separate card for fans to choose from.
The initiative allows supporters to revisit some of football’s most memorable individual campaigns and decide which deserves to be recognised as the greatest.
Voting costs €1 per vote, with participants gaining access to an iconic Ballon d’Or photograph and entry into a draw for two tickets to the 71st Ballon d’Or ceremony in 2027.
The organisers have also confirmed that fans can vote multiple times, including for the same player, with each vote requiring a separate €1 contribution.
Voting closes on October 27, 2026, at 23:59 Paris time, while the official results will be announced on October 28 through the Ballon d’Or website and social media platforms.
The announcement comes as former France striker Thierry Henry and British journalist Kate Scott have been named hosts of the 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony, scheduled for October 26 at the London Palladium in England. The pair regularly work together on CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage.
