Nigerian actress Adunni Ade has announced the death of her mother. The actress’s mother passed on 18 October 2026 after a prolonged battle with an undisclosed illness.
While announcing the news in a lengthy Instagram post on Monday, Adunni described her mother’s death as a painful loss.
“With a heavy heart and submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, who returned to her Creator after a long battle with illness.
“Details of the funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course,” she posted.

The Nigerian-American actress was born in New York to a Yoruba Nigerian father and a German-Irish mother.
In September, Adunni Ade revealed that many of her Christian fans unfollowed her after she publicly revealed her new faith in Islam.
The actress made the revelation in an interview with media personality Chude Jidenowo.
She alleged it is “almost forbidden” to be a Muslim in Nollywood.

Ade said when she eventually found the courage to speak publicly about her faith and shared that Islam is the religion that works for her, some Christian fans unfollowed her on social media.
She said, “In my line of work, it is almost forbidden for you to say you are a Muslim publicly. You could be looked down upon for doing that. It is just something that I noticed.
“Islam for me, is not all about outward look. It is what is within. How you treat others. I came out publicly with my religion because I was tired of keeping it a secret.
Have been to different churches. I am not saying Christianity is not a good religion. It is not for me to say. I am just saying what works for me: Islam.
“And I lost some fans for revealing that I am a Muslim. They unfollowed me. Some people even came to my DMs to bit out whatever spirit they thought was within me. Some were praying for me. A lot of Muslims embraced me. But I really don’t care about that. It is just for me and what works for me.
