Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has revealed that many of her Christian fans unfollowed her after she publicly revealed her new faith in Islam.
The actress made the revelation in an interview with media personality Chude Jidenowo.
She alleged it is “almost forbidden” to be a Muslim in Nollywood.
Ade said when she eventually found the courage to speak publicly about her faith and shared that Islam is the religion that works for her, some Christian fans unfollowed her on social media.
She said, “In my line of work, it is almost forbidden for you to say you are a Muslim publicly. You could be looked down upon for doing that. It is just something that I noticed.
“Islam for me, is not all about outward look. It is what is within. How you treat others. I came out publicly with my religion because I was tired of keeping it a secret.

I have been to different churches. I am not saying Christianity is not a good religion. It is not for me to say. I am just saying what works for me, is Islam.
“And I lost some fans for revealing that I am a Muslim. They unfollowed me. Some people even came to my DMs to bit out whatever spirit they thought was within me. Some were praying for me. A lot of Muslims embraced me. But I really don’t care about that. It is just for me and what works for me.,
In May, Adunni Ade threatened to sue peddlers of viral news that her beauty couldn’t save her marriage.
It was widely reported without a source that the 48-year-old actress had blamed her single status on herself.
Reacting to the controversy, Adunni refuted the report, tagging it fake news.
Speaking in a post on X, she issued a 24-hour ultimatum to all platforms to take down the reports.
She accused the media outlets that reported it of spreading misinformation for engagement. Adunni Ade threatened legal action if her ultimatum was ignored.
“I kindly request you to take down this post within 24 hours to prevent further action involving my legal team.
“I don’t appreciate the fact that you are using my name to peddle false news and articles with no verifiable source just to generate engagement”, she stated.
