Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, who served as Delta’s governor for two terms from 2007 to 2015, has died.

The former governor has been ill for a while. He died on Monday, October 19, just three days before turning 72.

Toju Anire Uduaghan signed a statement released by his family announcing his passing.

“It is with hearts weighed down by immeasurable grief and profound sorrow that we announce the passing to glory of our beloved Father, Brother, Uncle, and Patriarch, His Excellency, Dr. Chief Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, former Governor of Delta State, who departed this world on the morning of 19th October 2026,” the statement reads.

“His passing has left us devastated. Words can hardly express the depth of our sorrow at the loss of a man who meant so much to our family and whose life and service touched countless others across Delta State and Nigeria.

“He was a source of strength, a father figure, a beloved brother and uncle, and a respected elder. We will deeply miss his presence and forever cherish the memories and legacy he leaves behind.”

Uduaghan, born on October 22, 1954, served as Delta health commissioner between 1999 and 2003.

He was subsequently appointed as the secretary to the state government from 2003 to 2007.

The Onidogun of Idogun in Ose LGA, Ondo State, Moses Bakare, has passed away.

Idowu Ajanaku, the Ondo commissioner for information and orientation and an Idogun native, announced the monarch’s passing.

The commissioner stated that he was notified of the monarch’s passing on Thursday nite by community chiefs.

According to reports, Bakare passed away at a hospital following a 24-hour coma. He was taken to the hospital after collapsing on Wednesday.

Ajanaku expressed the state government’s condolences to the deceased monarch’s family and the Idogun community.

He also urged residents to maintain peace and order and refrain from violence during the mourning period.

However, reports indicate that some indigenes who opposed the late monarch blocked the road into the community with logs of wood on Thursday, preventing his body from being brought into the town.Tour Palaces

Those conveying the corpse were reportedly forced to return it to a mortuary in Owo town.

Bakare’s death comes after a crisis erupted in the community in October 2025, when some residents assaulted him in an incident captured in a viral video.
