A fire occurrence in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, damaged two residential structures, resulting in the destruction of properties valued at millions of naira.
The two occurrences happened on Wednesday and Thursday at different places, according to The Intercept.
On Wednesday, the first incident happened at Arije Ishola Layout in Amuda, Ojere Basorun, Ibadan.
A self-contained flat and two rooms on the building’s top floor were impacted by the fire.
According to information obtained, the second event happened at SW9/201, Surulere Street, in the Oke-Ado neighbourhood of Ibadan.
Millions of naira’s worth of properties were damaged in both incidents, it was confirmed.

In separate comments sent to The Intercept on Thursday, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, the general manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, verified the two events.
According to him, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at precisely 22:28 hours, a distress call regarding the incident that day was received.
He said, “The firemen led by ACFS Adesina Olusoji swiftly turned out to the scene of the incident, and on getting there, it was the upper storey of a single-storey residential building on fire.
“We quickly swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading to the whole building and nearby properties.
“The fire was completely extinguished. The fire affected two (2) rooms and a parlour self contain at the upper floor of the building.
“No casualty was recorded and the fire incident was as a result of lighted cooking gas cylinder unattended by the owner.”
He added that the second incident was reported on Thursday.
According to him, “The fire incident was reported at exactly 03:45hrs on Thursday, 8th May, 2025. The firemen swiftly turned out to the scene of the incident, and on arrival, there, we met a private residential building of three rooms well alight.
“We quickly swung into action and curtailed the fire from spreading to nearby buildings properties. The fire was completely extinguished. No casualty was recorded and the fire incident was as a result of upsurge of electricity and ignited nearby combustible materials and set the building ablaze.”
