Sheriff Ogundiran, a member of the Osun State Amotekun Corps, was said to have passed only minutes after collapsing at his home while getting ready for work.
In an interview with The Intercept on Thursday, corps spokesperson Yusuf Idowu clarified that Ogundiran unexpectedly became unwell at home and was not able to be revived.
Ogundiran, who was the Provost of the B Division at the Ila-Orangun Command until his death, “collapsed unexpectedly and was later confirmed dead,” according to Idowu, who also noted that the loss left a significant vacuum in the corps and the greater Osun State security community.
In a condolence message signed by the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Mr. Adekunle Omoyele, in Osogbo, the organisation condoled with the late Ogundiran’s family, friends, colleagues, and the entire community of Ila-Orangun.

Describing the deceased as a disciplined, loyal, and tireless operative, Omoyele further said, “Sheriff Ogundiran was more than just an operative; he was a pillar of our operational command structure and a proud son of Osun who served with unwavering dedication to the security of our people.
“His sudden death is not only shocking but a painful and irreplaceable loss to the Amotekun Corps, his family, and the community he served with courage and honour.

“During his time with us, Ogundiran distinguished himself with admirable professionalism, bravery, and an unmatched commitment to duty. He played a pivotal role in maintaining peace and order in Ila-Orangun and beyond. His legacy will forever be etched in the history of the Osun Amotekun Corps.”
The Osun Amotekun’s dedication to remembering the memories of departed officers by preserving the principles and standards they lived and strived for was then reiterated by the Corps Commander.
He gave the public his word that the late officer’s family will receive the proper assistance.
