Twenty-five livestock that were thought to be lost or stolen have been found by Gada Divisional Police Headquarters in Sokoto State.

Police in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area located livestock that had been rescued from a wooded forest on Thursday after receiving a tip from local officials.

On Friday, Ahmed Rufai said that the recovery came after Alhaji Muhammad Kyari’s allegation regarding stray livestock.

The statement read, “The District Head of Gada. Alhaji Idi “M,” the former Village Head of Gidan Rabami Village in Gada Local Government Area, had earlier alerted the authorities about the presence of stray cattle in a nearby forest.

The livestock were found in a thick forest close to Sabon Birni Local Government Area, which has rough terrain and sporadic security problems.

“The Gada Police Division responded promptly, deploying officers to the site where the 25 cattle were successfully recovered without incident.”

Following the operation, the cattle were relocated to Gada Division Headquarters, where they are presently being confined in a safe location, according to the statement.

To claim their animals, the police ask cattle owners who may be matches to come to the station with proper documentation.

“This recovery effort demonstrates our ongoing commitment to protecting the lives and property of our citizens, including their means of livelihood.

“We are calling on all concerned livestock owners to come forward with necessary identification to facilitate a smooth verification and handover process,” Rufai stated.

In order to speed up the identification procedure and get the animals back to their owners, residents of Gada and the surrounding districts are urged to spread the news.
