Detectives from Lagos State Police have detained the prime suspect in the savage killing of Jane Okoye, 65, in the Orile Iganmu neighbourhood of Lagos on April 2, 2025.
Benjamin Hundeyin, a police spokesperson, claims that Abubakar Iliyasu, the culprit, broke into the victim’s house and took her Toyota Sienna and personal items before running away. After being discovered unresponsive, the victim passed away at a hospital.
The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba was given the case, and murder investigators there began a thorough investigation utilising both intelligence and technological techniques. Iliyasu was arrested in Ankpa, Kogi State, as a result of their activities. Additionally, the stolen car was found undamaged.

Currently, Iliyasu is being detained at SCID, Yaba, and is cooperating with investigators.
Lagos State Police Commissioner, Olohundare Jimoh, assured the public that the suspect will face prosecution and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring safety and justice.
