While repairing a malfunctioning line, an unidentified employee of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) was electrocuted.
When the area’s energy was abruptly restored, The Intercept learnt that the employees were repairing a malfunctioning line.
As soon as the electricity was restored, the staff member who was working on the pole was electrocuted.
According to information obtained by The Intercept on Friday, the incident happened on Tuesday outside the West African Examination Council (WAEC) headquarters in the Ijokodo neighbourhood of Ibadan.

Several minutes passed before his teammates were able to remove him from the top of the pole.
According to information obtained by our correspondent, the victim was sent to the hospital right away.

As of the time this article was filed on Saturday, no other information on the workers had been disclosed.
However, since Friday, The Intercept’s attempts to obtain an answer from IBEDC have all failed.
Busola Tunwase, the IBEDC’s head of media relations, did not return several calls on Friday.
When reached, however, IBEDC’s Coordinating Head of Corporate Services, Angela Olanrewaju, suggested that our correspondent provide his name and contact information.
As of the time this story was filed on Saturday, our correspondent’s messages following the sending of the name and contact had not received a response.
On Friday, calls placed through her number were again unanswered.
