Prior to the funeral of business magnate and elder statesman Alhaji Aminu Dantata, Barau Jibrin, the Senate’s deputy president, and Abdullahi Ganduje, the All Progressives Congress’s immediate past national chairman, have travelled to Madina, Saudi Arabia.
The team arrived at the Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madina around 5:15 a.m. local time on Tuesday (today), according to a statement released by Ismail Mudashir, Barau’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
In accordance with Islamic customs, Dantata, a prominent person in Nigerian business and charitable circles, will be laid to rest later today in the Islamic holy city.
Prince Abdullahi Abbas, the chairman of the APC Kano State, Senator Muntari Dandutse, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND, and Rt. Hon. Ali Madaki, the deputy minority leader of the House of Representatives, are among the other dignitaries travelling with them.
The group also included Hon. Sani Bala, Usman Kansila, Ahmad Dantata, the deceased’s son, and Eng. Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, who represents the Makoda/Dambatta Federal Constituency.

According to The Intercept, Dantata, a Kano philanthropist and businessman, passed away at the age of 94.
His Principal Private Secretary, Mustapha Abdullahi Junaid, reported his death on Facebook last Saturday.
“It is with heavy heart that I announce the passing of our beloved father, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata…”Junaid said.
