Rixel Studios intends to contest for the Guinness World Records (GWR) title of largest film showing in a single place with the release of its second feature film, “Black Market”.
Black Market, starring Lateef Adedimeji and Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, aims to set a Guinness World Record.
The movie, which comes after the studio’s 2025 debut “Red Circle,” is slated to open on September 26 at Lagos’ Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS).
In an effort to surpass the current GWR of over 43,000 people seeing a film at one venue, the event, which is being produced in partnership with FilmOne Studios, Signet Ring Studios, and Switch Visuals Production, hopes to draw 50,000 people.
Nora Awolowo, who leads Rixel Studios, said the project reflects the team’s commitment to innovation after lessons learnt from its first feature.

“We are excited to go on this journey as a team and we have taken a lot of learnings from our previous film. As young filmmakers, one of our aim is to continue to creatively look for ways to innovate,” Awolowo said.
Ladun Awobokun, chief content officer at FilmOne Studios, described the record attempt as an opportunity to spotlight Nollywood on the global stage.
“We are incredibly excited. This is more than a film project. It’s an opportunity to create history and showcase Nigerian creativity and Nollywood on a global stage,” Awobokun said.
Also speaking, Damilola Osikoya, chief executive officer of Switch Visuals Production, said the initiative demonstrates what can be achieved through bold ideas and collaboration.
