Four security officers have been arrested for helping terrorist operations in the Northeast, says the Defence Headquarters.
Two members of the hybrid forces, who had been collaborating with soldiers to fight the insurgency, are among the suspects.
The hybrid forces were apprehended during operations in the Bama, Kukawa, and Madagali LGAs between April 26 and 29, according to Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, Director, Defence Media Operations.
Concerned by the treachery, Kangye cautioned commanders to make their troops aware of actions that may undermine current military operations.

“In a well-coordinated operation conducted from 26–29 April 2025 in Bama, Kukawa, and Madagali LGAs of Borno and Adamawa States, troops intercepted four terrorists’ logistics suppliers. Sadly, two of them were confirmed to be members of the hybrid forces.”

Commanders are therefore to sensitise hybrid forces personnel to desist from colluding with or encouraging terrorist acts capable of sabotaging our operations,” Kangye said.
Kangye stated that troops, along with hybrid forces, conducted offensive operations in Gwoza, Dikwa, Bama, Chibok, Gujba, Geidam, and Yunusari Local Government Areas. These actions included fighting patrols, raids, and clearance missions.
According to him, the operations resulted in the death of many terrorists, the rescue of six abducted people, and the recovery of caches of weapons, ammunition, bicycles, and motorbikes.

Kangye claimed that troops in the South-South also did a great job of stopping unlawful refining and oil theft in the Niger Delta.
More than 2,600 gallons of petrol, 72,000 litres of unlawfully processed diesel and more than 86,000 litres of stolen crude oil were found, he claimed.
In addition, troops destroyed dozens of illegal refining sites and seized boats, storage tanks, tricycles, mobile phones, and seven vehicles.
