At least 15 farmers were killed and at least three others were injured in the attack on the Waje hamlet in Kebbi State’s Danko Wasagu Local Government Area by unidentified gunmen who are thought to be bandits.
During a condolence visit to the District Head of Waje’s home, State Governor Nasir Idris, accompanied by his deputy Umar Tafida, expressed sorrow over the tragic event and announced that the state government would be contributing to the victims’ families.
He said the gesture was a small attempt by the government to help the injured and their families during this trying period.
The deputy governor also assured the community that the state government would take necessary steps to address insecurity and ensure farmers can safely return to their farmlands.

Speaking, the District Head of Waje, Bala Danbaba, lauded the state government for the visit and the financial assistance, describing it as timely and impactful.

He pointed out that the Danko Wasagu area shares borders with Niger, Zamfara, and Sokoto States, making it vulnerable to attacks, and appealed for enhanced security measures to block the entry points used by the attackers.
On his part, the Chairman of Danko Wasagu Local Government, Alhaji Hussaini Aliyu Bena, confirmed that 15 farmers were killed and three others injured during the attack.
