Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, declared that opposition leaders in the nation are now prepared to run against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Atiku has been mobilising opposition leaders to unseat the President since he lost the 2023 presidential race.
Speaking at a news conference on Thursday at the Yar’adua centre in Abuja with other opposition leaders, Atiku claimed the event marked the beginning of the opposition uniting in front of the next elections.
“This is the birth of the coalition of opposition ahead of 2027,” Atiku stated in response to enquiries about whether the opposition coalition news conference represented the gathering of opposition leaders.

Opposition leaders responded to President Tinubu’s declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State on Tuesday by dismissing Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and members of the State House of Assembly.
Atiku accused Tinubu of favouritism during a news conference held on Thursday at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja on behalf of the opposition leaders.
