The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has formally switched to the All Progressives Congress from the Peoples Democratic Party.
He announced this in a formal statement at the Government House in the state capital of Uyo on Friday.
According to the governor, the choice was made after “three months of wide consultation” with important state stakeholders.Â
Eno thanked the PDP for their assistance throughout his term, saying it was time for him to take a more forward-thinking step.

Some of the APC Governors who attended the event included the Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi) and Bassey Otu (Cross River), among others.
