The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Jigawa state branch has voiced alarm over the increasing amount of inferior fertilisers that are saturating the state’s markets.
This was revealed by the association’s chairman, Engr. Auwal Garba Ibrahim, at a press conference on the state executive meeting’s conclusion.
According to him, the group has previously discussed the issue with the Federal Competition Consumer Protection Council (FCCPC).

The council promised AFAN that it would take strict action to find and punish manufacturers and distributors of subpar fertilisers that reduce output.
Engr. Ibrahim urged farmers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities relating to the sale of fake or low-quality fertilisers to the union and relevant authorities.
He warned that the circulation of such products poses a significant threat to national food security, stressing that protecting farmers from exploitation is essential to sustaining agricultural output.
