Nigerian singer Anthony Ebuka Victor, aka Victony, has explained how he uses alcohol before he goes live on stage.
The ‘Soweto’ hitmaker explained that he has never gone on stage without taking alcohol.
In a conversation with Behind The Prestige, Victony said he plans to stop the habit during his ongoing ‘Stubborn’ tour to give him a real and better experience with his fans.
He said,
“I’m trying to do this tour so wow. It’s a big challenge. I have never been on stage without taking alcohol. But [for this tour], I’m trying to see my fans clearly and truly connect with them. I just want to try.”
Victony says his car accident made his parents become supportive of his music career.
In April 2021, the ‘Soweto’ hitmaker was involved in an ill-fated accident that claimed one life and left three others injured.

During an interview with the Behind The Prestige podcast, he revealed that his parents were initially not in support of his music career.
He stated that they wanted him to complete his education and pursue a career in engineering.
He explained that their perspective shifted after his 2021 car accident, as the massive public support he received made them realise how much music meant to him.

“My parents were not cool with me doing music from the jump. They didn’t tell me to stop, but they weren’t 100% supportive of it,” he said.
“They hoped I’d finish school and become an engineer.
“But when I had my accident in 2021 and they saw how much impact I had on people, how people on social media were posting things like ‘pray for Victony’, they realised my music career meant a lot to me and just let me do what I wanted.”
Victony became recognized just a few years ago through his collaboration with Mayorkun on the hit track ‘Holy Father.
He is signed to Mainland Block Party, a record label founded by Nigerian music executive Tobi Mohammed.
