Oluwabukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, aka KieKie, said she lived with her husband for four months before their wedding to avoid paying rent for an additional year.
In an interview with Toke Makinwa, KieKie stated that the choice was made for practical reasons.
According to her, they had already completed the customary ceremonies and were preparing for their January white wedding.
She claimed that instead of renewing her lease, she decided to move in with her spouse when her rent expired during that time.

KieKie said people might judge the decision, but she was not going to waste money.
She said the church was unaware of the arrangement at the time, and she used to sing in church during that period.

“Before my husband and I got married, we lived together for about four months. My rent had expired, and we were getting married in January, so I said to myself, ‘Why pay another rent?’ People might judge it, but I wasn’t going to waste money. We’d already done our introduction. The church didn’t know about it, and I used to sing in church at that time,” she remarked.
In March, Kiekie has stressed the importance of celebrities and content creators setting boundaries between their personal and professional lives.
Speaking at The Creative Blueprint 2.0, Kiekie clarified that she has drawn a clear distinction between her personal life and her comic star character.
“I have created a very thick line between what is personal to me as Oluwabukunmi Adeaga Ilori and what is personal to my brand as Kiekie. What are the elements of my brand? Event and TV host, actor, content creator. What is my content? Comic,” she said.
Kiekie explained that she doesn’t feature her husband, Tunji Ilori, in her content because “he is not funny”.
The actress added that she features her daughter Nola on her social media because “she is made for the camera”.
She, however, clarified that there is a limit to how she features her daughter in her content, stressing that she only create content with her during academic breaks.
