Grammy-winning music superstar Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, will headline the opening night of Detty December Fest 2026, the organisers have announced.
According to Livespot360, Wizkid will take the stage on December 18, marking the beginning of the 13-day festival of music, culture, food, fashion and entertainment in Lagos, which will run until December 30.
The organisers said a second performance stage would be introduced this year as part of an expanded programme for the annual music fiesta.
“Wizkid will headline the main festival stage, while the newly introduced Pulse Stage will provide a platform for emerging artists, new sounds and breakthrough talents shaping the future of African music.”

The year’s edition follows the official launch of Detty December in the 2025 Fest, which attracted more than 40,000 festivalgoers.
It featured a mix of international and African music stars, including Busta Rhymes, Gunna, Shenseea, Tiwa Savage, Diamond Platnumz, Phyno, Wande Coal, Fave, Young John, Qing Madi, Ice Prince, Jux and Wizkid.

According to the organisers, the 2026 edition will feature a wider mix of music, culture and entertainment experiences. Detty December is Nigeria’s premier cultural fiesta and holiday season show.
It turns Lagos into the global capital of Afrobeats, nightlife, and massive street celebrations throughout December.
Afrobeats musician Wizkid and maverick singer Seun Kuti have ruled out a reconciliation, stating that their disagreement will last a lifetime.
Following Wizkid’s assertion that he was superior to Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti in reaction to Seun Kuti’s order to fans to cease comparing the Ojuelegba crooner to the late music giant, the two fell out.
Seun Kuti responded that he can’t make amends with the Starboy leader since he disrespected his late father when asked in a recent podcast if he had resolved his conflict with Wizkid.
The host asked: “Have you and Wizkid settled your Beef?”
Kuti replied: “It is on for life. I don’t have anything to say about him but it is on for life. You don’t say things about my dad and then it is fine. There is no coming back from that.|
