JOS, Nigeria — According to a humanitarian worker, an attack on student-populated areas in Jos, Plateau State, on Sunday resulted in at least ten verified deaths.
“10 Christians were killed on Palm Sunday,” according to a video released by Alex Barbir on his official social media accounts.
According to reports, the incident that happened today took place in and around Eto Baba, Angwa Rukuba, and adjacent student housing areas. As attackers began fire in the impacted areas, locals described scenes of fear.

A resident of Angwa Rukuba told TruthNigeria, “They are Boko Haram, not Fulani. We don’t know how many were killed, but many died.”
However, a separate account from local sources indicated that attackers, described as Fulani militia, arrived on motorcycles, fired sporadically at residents, and retreated toward nearby mountainous areas after the assault. Casualties from this account include multiple deaths and injuries, though exact figures remain unverified.

Witnesses also reported sporadic gunfire at Angwa Rukuba Junction, where several casualties were recorded. Parts of the area were said to be on fire at the time of reporting.
Students living in Angwa Rukuba, Eto Baba, and the surrounding school environments have been advised by local sources to remain indoors and limit movement due to ongoing security concerns.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from security agencies regarding the incident or the identity of the attackers.
In Jos, the capital of Plateau State in north-central Nigeria, there is a heavily inhabited region called Angwa Rukuba. Armed organisations, including robbers and rebels, have frequently attacked the city and its environs in recent years; land, religious, and ethnic problems have frequently been mentioned in these instances.
This assault comes after the Palm Sunday assault in Plateau State last year, which claimed 54 lives. The Sunday before Easter, known as Palm Sunday, honours Jesus’ triumphant arrival into Jerusalem. The holiest Christian holiday week, which ends on Easter Sunday, begins on this day.
