A guy named Adeshina Gilbert has reportedly been detained for the death of a Benue driver in Obudu, Cross River State.
Dennis Guda, the chairman of the Vandeikya Local Government Area, confirmed Gilbert’s arrest as one of the suspects in the horrific mob murder of Mr. Agege Ternenge, a commercial driver from Mbanyam in the Mbatyough Council Ward.
Following a directive from Commissioner of Police Rashid Afegba, agents of the Cross River State Police Command captured the 35-year-old suspect, who lived in the Abonkib community in Obudu Urban, Cross River State.
The arrest comes as part of a massive manhunt to find everyone responsible for the July 18 murder.

While Ternenge was on duty in Obudu, presenting a waybill, he was allegedly stoned to death by a crowd.
Nationwide public outrage and condemnation were sparked by a disturbing video of the assault that went viral on social media.
Speaking in Calabar, SP Irene Ugbo, the public relations officer for the Cross River State Police Command, called the incident a savage and cruel act and reiterated the command’s resolve to hold all of the offenders accountable.
Chairman Guda responded to the news by applauding the Cross River Police’s prompt action and calling for more efforts to find more culprits.
He called on the people of Vandeikya to remain calm, assuring them that justice will be served.
Guda also stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence between communities and cautioned against mob justice, emphasising that only the security agencies are empowered to enforce the law.
Investigation into the killing is ongoing.
