333 suspected political thugs who were detained during last Saturday’s by-election have been charged with a variety of electoral crimes by the Kano State Police Command.
This was revealed by Police Commissioner Ibrahim Adamu Bakori on Monday during a press conference on the security operations in the constituencies of Bagwai/Shanono and Ghari/Tsanyawa.
He claimed that the suspects tried to interfere with the election but were stopped by joint security personnel.

They were carrying cutlasses, pump-action rifles, locally manufactured handguns, and other weapons.
Bakori confirmed that the suspects were charged with disorderly conduct, possession of offensive weapons, intimidation, snatching and destruction of election materials.
He added that exhibits recovered from them included arms, cash totalling N4,048,000, and other dangerous objects.
The suspects were arraigned before Magistrate Courts in Nomansland and Gyadi-Gyadi, Kano, for prosecution.
