After a successful raid by combined security operatives on a criminal hideaway in Digawa village, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area, 14 individuals were arrested and incriminating items were recovered, marking a significant breakthrough in Jigawa State, according to the police.
Remember how the Jigawa State Police Command reported another incident on June 11, 2025, in which scammers from Digawa village assaulted Dumus village, killing 60-year-old Isma’il Ibrahim and injured eight others.
The operation, which took place on June 12, 2025, the day of democracy, led to the arrest of 14 male suspects and the recovery of incriminating items, according to a statement released to reporters Thursday in Dutse, the state capital, by SP Shi’isu Adam, the state police public relations officer.
The statement said that reliable intelligence information of a network engaged in fraud and other crimes in the area was the basis for the raid.

Adam also said the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing a thorough investigation, after which they will be arraigned in court.
“This operation underscores the commitment to safeguarding communities and rooting out criminal elements,” he explained in the statement, adding, “The raid is a follow-up to a previous incident where fraudsters from Digawa village attacked Dumus village, resulting in one death and eight injuries.
“Corpse and injured persons were ferried to Federal Medical Centre Birnin Kudu for autopsy and medical attention respectively.”
Items recovered during the raid, according to the police spokesperson, include: “Nine fabricated pistols, 27 Dane guns, 37 gun pieces, four motorcycles, 12 pieces of fake USD.”

Adam further emphasised that when investigations are finished, the suspects would be subject to the full force of the law.
“The police command is determined to bring the perpetrators to justice,” the police stated, urging the public to continue assisting security services by swiftly reporting suspicious actions.
