Famous Nigerian singer Iyanya says it’s very difficult to stay celibate, as he meets attractive women daily.
In a candid conversation on the Afropolitan podcast, the ‘Ur Waist’ crooner explained that he often ends up with regrets whenever he breaks his celibacy but struggles to stay consistent.
“My celibacy fluctuates; it goes up and down. Sometimes you are trying to stay celibate and you run into a girl who gives you all the reasons not to be celibate. You do what you have to do, you now start missing the celibacy again,” he explained.

The 39-year-old singer said he is not considering marriage now because he believes he is not yet mentally ready.
“I am not thinking of getting married… So, I am very honest when I meet people now. I think that is what has helped me a lot. When I meet you I don’t go, ‘Oh! I’m crazy about you.’ When I meet you I go, ‘Listen, I’m healing. Don’t expect so much from me.’

“Maybe, when I was younger, I wouldn’t mind, I would just say what you want to hear. But now what has really helped me a lot is just saying, ‘I’m not in that space and I’m not going to lie to you or play with your emotions’,” he added.
In June, Iyanya dedicated a song to victims of the Yelewata massacre in Benue State.
The killings in Benue still trend, with over 200 people reportedly massacred in Yelewata in the Guma Local Government Area of the state.
Reacting in a song, Iyanya condoled with the Benue people and prayed for divine intervention.
He urged the victims to continue believing in God even in this trying time, stressing that he can turn their sorrows to joy.
Sharing the video via X, he captioned it, “We are praying for the people of Benue.”
He said, “I want to dedicate this song to all people of Benue State. It’s trying time for the whole country because we all share your pain.
