Nigerian singer Iyanya is opening up about grief and how he performed in a show after hearing about his mum’s demise.
The “Kukere” crooner stated that his father died about a week before he got signed, and his brother passed away immediately after his debut.
He explained that the day his mother died, he was backstage waiting to perform at an event when he received the news 4 minutes before the scheduled time.
The singer, despite the devastating news, still went on to perform.
Iyanya disclosed this in a recent interview with media personality Hero Daniels.
The music star said, “The lowest points of my life I would say losing three family members in about two years. My dad passed away about seven or eight days to me being recruited. Immediately I came out, my brother followed. And then my mom.

“The day my mom died, I had a show, I was at the backstage. I think four minutes to my performance, my mom’s junior brother was calling me back-to-back. So, I picked the call and he goes like, your mom is dead. I still performed despite my devastation.”
Just last month, Iyanya dedicated a song to victims of the Yelewata massacre in Benue State.

The killings in Benue still trend, with over 200 people reportedly massacred in Yelewata in the Guma Local Government Area of the state.
Reacting in a song, Iyanya condoled with the Benue people and prayed for divine intervention.
He urged the victims to continue believing in God even in this trying time, stressing that he can turn their sorrows to joy.
