Ogun Amotekun Foils Robbery Attempt, Rescues Gunshot Victim in Daring Operation

In Akinale town, in the State’s Ewekoro Local Government Area, Ogun State Amotekun Corps, Ewekoro Command, rescued a 28-year-old victim of gunshot wounds and prevented a robbery attempt.

Around 1:20 am on Saturday, the victim, Opeyemi Olusanya, was shot in the upper part of his left limp.

After being discovered in the pool of his blood, the victim was taken to an unidentified private hospital in Obada-Oko for immediate medical assistance, according to Corps Deputy Commander Col. Tajudeen Bakare (rtd).

Bakare clarified that a local resident’s distress call prompted the rescue effort.

He mentioned that the robbers tried to escape in their wine-colored Kia Cerato operable car, registered KRD 840 JS, which belonged to Ariwoola Abiola Wasiu of Ifesowapo Estate, Adunbu, Itori, as soon as they saw the officers.

The operational car was seized, according to the Deputy Commander, but the robbers were able to flee into the neighbouring woods with goods like two laptops, eight high-end cell phones, jewellery and N54,000 in cash.

He said, “The robbery incident which a 28 year old man identified as Opeyemi Olusanya, was shot at the upper region of his left limp, took place around 1:20am was foiled by the team of Amotekun, Ewekoro Command.

“On arriving the scene, the thieves attempted to flee in their wine-colored Kia Cerato operational vehicle with registration number KRD 840 JS belonging to one Ariwoola Abiola Wasiu of Ifesowapo Estate, Adunbu, Itori.

“ At the sight of the combatant Amotekun operatives, the robbers took to their heels, made off with valuables, including eight sophisticated mobile phones, two laptops, jewelry and fifty four thousand naira cash, as they managed to escape into the nearby bush, leaving behind their operational vehicle”.

Bakare added that the recovered vehicle has been handed over to the Itori division of the Nigeria Police, and thorough investigation into the robbery and the escape of the robbers is ongoing.

He maintained that the prompt and proactive action of the Ogun State Amotekun Corps, is a testament to its commitment to protecting citizens and ensuring safety and security in the State
